Meet Dr. Gerardo Pico
DVMVeterinary medicine has always been Dr. Pico’s dream. Born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, he later transferred to Louisiana State University to complete his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. After graduating, he worked for the USDA as both an Animal and Plant Health Disease Inspector and an Animal Biologics Production Inspector.
A few years later, he answered the call to pursue his lifelong goal and attended the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Dr. Pico joined Parkland Animal Clinic in November 2022 after owning and operating his own animal hospital in Coral Springs for more than 27 years. His attention to detail and personal approach with patients reflect his deep passion for the veterinary profession. Dr. Pico is also fully bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Pico lives in Coconut Creek, Florida with his wife and their rescue cat, Buddy. He is the proud father of two children: a daughter who recently graduated from veterinary school and a son who works as a senior engineer for a major automotive production company. In his free time, Dr. Pico enjoys spending time in nature and riding his mountain bike on the many trails throughout South Florida. He especially enjoys sharing stories about the Florida wildlife he encounters along the way.
